Ethan Wesley Lambson in August 2011

I swiped these photos from Jessica's facebook page. These are both photos of Ethan.

School Days!

I'm reading the biography of President Monson and felt to include a note to you with some studying tips he used in college.

I found this quote from President Monson that I had sent to Whitney! Good food for thought!

"In academic preparation, I found it a good practice to read a text with the idea that I will be asked to explain that which the author wrote and its application to the subject it covered. Also, I tried to be attentive in any lecture in the classroom and to pretend that I would be called upon to present the same lecture to others. While this practice is very hard work, it certainly helps during test week. It is not the number of hours you put in, but what you put in the hours that counts."

Relationships

We had a speaker talk about relationships in Sacrament meeting. This is something I feel very strongly about. In the end, after all has been said and done, that's all we have in this world--our relationships with others. It's our job to make sure that the relationships we enjoy are preserved. We need to work on building them and letting these people know how much we care about them. I didn't have a photo of my whole family but the relationships that are most important to me include my beautiful children and then extend to my children's spouses and their children. I continue to cultivate relationships with my siblings and their families, my mother, my good friends and my co-workers. Of course, there are many more, but you get the idea. Work on developing good relationships with those you cherish!

Video of Wyatt

I couldn't figure out how to put the video of Wyatt on my blog so I forwarded it to your emails! Take a look!

Making Memories

Everytime I try posting these photos they rotate back to their original form. If anyone knows how to make them stay the way I want them to, let me know. Adam's family, Taylor and I went to see the boys tonight. We took turns watching the girls in the waiting room so we could each have a chance to hold the boys. Here are some of the photos. Sorry that they are not right side up.

Here I am with little Wyatt. He now weighs 3 pounds, 3 ounces.

Here we are with Ethan. He was holding on to our thumbs with his hand. He now weighs 5 pounds 3 ounces.

Taylor with Ethan

Now this one worked!? Go Figure. This is Taylor with Wyatt!

It was a very nice visit!

This is Ethan today, August 27, 2011. I went to see the boys this morning. He's in a bed without the top on so I could put my hands on him. I took some photos with my new phone but couldn't figure out how to  send them to my email. There is a cute photo of Wyatt on my phone so I'll try to add it later. As soon as Wyatt gains another pound so he'll be 4 pounds, he'll be in a bed like Ethan.

Why Does Everyone Do It?

It doesn't seem to matter where I go or to whom I speak, it is inevitable that people I am aquainted with or even total strangers somehow throw "Miss Barbara" into our conversation. I don't know how this phenonomen began but it has happened to me and continues to occur. Even a few moments ago when I answered my phone at work, the woman ended the conversation by saying, "Well, Miss Barbara, ..."  Am I the only one who thinks this is very strange?

Ethan and Wyatt - Day 11

Here is Ethan August 24, 2011. I went to visit my grandsons after work today. Ethan was sleeping peacfully. He's still basically at his birth weight and the breast milk is being augmented. He looks good. He's about the size Natalie was when she came home.

I got a pretty good close up of Wyatt tonight. Here you see him calm and sleeping but this is really deceiving. He was opening his eyes off and on and fidgeting a lot. I wonder if this will have any bearing on their personalities. He needs to relax and grow! He's so tiny!

Remembering

I've been thinking about Whitney's recent marriage to Ben and now Cheri is engaged to Daniel--David and Ashley and Adam and Jessica are moving through their marriages at what seems lightening speed--the grandchildren are coming. It made me think about my marriage to their father and how happy I was. I want to say that I don't regret my marriage. There were many happy times--my temple marriage, the births of my babies, cabin outings, movie nights, playing horse in the back yard, our one vacation to California, attending church together, watching my sons advance in the priesthood, sending David and Adam off on their missions, seeing my children start their own families, etc.  I'm proud of my children for so many things. Of course, like any mother, I'd like to see them make good choices but then that's what life's about--making our own choices. I wish all of my children happiness, success and great memories. Always look on the bright side and each day will be a blessing.  Much Love, Mom

A Dream or a Nightmare?!?

Early this morning I had a dream or a nightmare. I dreamt that my sister, Becky and I were in the military. I remember we were in a very large cafeteria. The food was in huge vats. Then we went to our rooms, which were like closets and we had to share with 3 other women. Becky was not in my room. Then I got a phone call from my brother, Frank. He asked if I'd arrived safely. Then I realized my alarm was going off. I was actually quite relieved. When I repeated my dream to Taylor, he blurted out, "You two are too old! They wouldn't take you!"  --Didn't I mention it was a dream???

Getting Older

I'm not sure how I feel about this photo. We were subjected to a mandatory photo shoot recently at work for the Website and new business cards. Anyone who knows me also knows that my hair is the bane of my existence and I need a haircut and color badly. But, I tried to grin and bear it. (I did have a retake though.)

At the Park Again

Tonight I watched the girls while their parents went to visit the boys. Tomorrow I'll run up to the hospital and take some more photos and get some grandma time in. The girls love the slides but then they get carried away with throwing wood chips. Right after this, we headed home!

Hailie's Dancing Photo

This isn't a very large image and the photo Frank entered in the Davis County Fair didn't have the little boy in the background. Frank took 3rd place in his division on this photo!

"Flower the Snail" --She is famous!

When Frank took this photo and shared it with me, I said "Ewww! Gross!" He found this snail "Flower" on a walk, took it home and set up a photo op. About 10 days ago, he entered this photo of Flower in the Davis County Fair and went on vacation. Upon returning, a neighbor dropped by and congratulated Frank for his ribbons at the fair. He received "Best of Show" and "Judge's Choice" for Flower the Snail. When he told me I laughed and recalled my words. He said the judges were tired of the same photos of waterfalls and flowers. It just goes to show that I don't know art that well. He also got a second place ribbon for the photo of arow of hammocks he took when he traveled to Mexico. I've see that one also and like it very much! Again, congrats to my brother, Frank--the artist. Next stop--the Utah State Fair!

correction from last post. The doctors say that Wyatt will catch up to his brother, Ethan in size.

By chance, Adam's family was at the Newborn ICU the same time as me this morning, Saturday, August 20, 2011. The photo just above this post is Ethan. He is the larger of the twins but the doctor said he will catch up to his brother. Ethan weighs one more ounce than his birth weight and Wyatt weighs one ounce less than his birth weight. It was nice to see Ethan's face. He looks like he is resting peacefully. Above Hailie is checking out Wyatt. She said he's little like a teddy bear. She loves their fingers and toes. Wyatt is all bundled up and looked comfortable. They are beautiful baby boys!

Recently, Hailie, aged 3 1/2 tried to kiss Andrew on the lips. When he told her not to, she said, "But princesses kiss on the lips! You are my king!" She never fails to come up with the greatest lines!! Love you Hailie Rose!

August 17, 2011 Ethan and Wyatt

I went again after work today to see my little grandsons in the NBICU at University Hospital. At the top, you can see Wyatt's little feet. He was lifting his legs and wiggling his little feet. He was also making funny faces. Ethan is feeling much better. He had a pnemothorax. This is when air gets into the chest cavity. They put in a chest tube and it has helped. Cameron developed the same thing when he was born. It's wonderful to see these little guys! Keep praying that they'll grow and come home quickly!

August 16, 2011 The Twins

Wyatt is the top photo. His light is off and his feeding is going to six and he likes laying on his tummy with his leg hanging off.

Ethan's light is off and he is going up to eat ten.

Monday, August 15, 2011

The top photo is of Ethan Wesley and the bottom of Wyatt Reed. Both are being treated for jauntis, so their eyes are covered. I took this tonight after work. They are being fed through feeding tubes. Wyatt is not on any oxygen and neither is Ethan. However, he is being assisted in his breathing because one of his lungs is having trouble inflating. He still may have to have surgery but there is no date for that yet.

Jessica is doing very well and if she continues on this path, she should be able to come home this week.

Granddaughters

This is a glimpse of Sunday, Augusts 14, 2011. The girls are still in what they wore for bed, minus the hat. I went to their apartment and picked them up. Soon I was giving them breakfast, a shower, and dresses for church. They are adorable girls and I am grateful that I am able to be there for them and their family.

Whitney's Wedding

The small one above is Hailie dancing at Whitney's wedding. My brother, Frank, shot it and caught her dancing. She loved the "Castle".

The other of Whitney and Ben is courtesy of Frank's fantastic photographic ability! Love that brother! Aren't Ben and Whitney a handsome couple?
